From recruitment to assessment of board members, very strategic and thoughtful consideration must be made. The process of board development is the single most important aspect for an effective board.
From the identification, cultivation and selection of members to the preparation, transition and education of these individuals is critically important to the overall effectiveness and success of the board, the president or head, and the institution in which these key leaders serve.
In addition, a significant aspect of board development is the assessment and evaluation process that must occur. Board members want to know how they are performing. And, the president or head and the institution’s community seek to measure the effectiveness of the board. From annual assessment and evaluation to a more extensive process of evaluation, we will address various strategies to measure both individual and overall board effectiveness.
